The migration process using ORMIT-Forms is fully automated
and follows a clearly defined approach.
ORMIT-Forms helps Developers identify, isolate and replace
obsolete items/calls in the Forms with the relevant changes
as per Oracle's recommended practices. ORMIT-Forms allows
Developers to migrate their Forms to new versions without
changing any business rules or logic so Developers do not
need documentation for the application prior to the migration.
The intuitive and easy-to-use UI provides for a low learning
curve. Anyone who has used Forms Builder could easily start
using ORMIT-Forms right away.
ORMIT-Forms provides a pre-migration analysis and a post-migration
log file. The migration logs provide documentation for future
uses and are easily sorted so developers can quickly identify
group errors that can be addressed together.
ORMIT-Forms allows Developers to address multiple Forms.
Post-migration fixes
can also be made to all or a selected set of Forms simultaneously,
resulting in significant time savings.
ORMIT-Forms also provides an option to create a pre-migration
check report based on the provided inputs for the selected
form(s). Users can select the pre-migration options that apply
prior to the migration process. These pre-migration parameters
are saved and can be maintained during consecutive migration
process. Users can define their own "replacement words"
or leave it to ORMIT-Forms to replace Oracle reserved PL/SQL
words during migration.
The Migration Wizard is a very powerful
feature of ORMIT-Forms. Developers are able to use this wizard
to migrate older versions of Forms to version 9i/10g based
on user preferences and inputs.
Some of the other features within the migration wizard
include:
- Convert V2 trigger to V3 \ PL/SQL.
- Modify special format masks to migrated version compliant.
- Rename V3 system variables to upgraded version equivalents.
- Fix display length incompatibilities.
- Replace PL/SQL and Oracle reserve words.
- Accept user specified date format during migrated Forms.
- Supports Forms by Forms or batch migration process.
- Detailed log files are generated which records all the
activity during migration.
- Address all issues related to built-ins, system variables
and compatibility.
- Performs a complete GUI implementation.
- Integrates full mouse navigation without compromising
application functionalities.
- Proper handling of restricted triggers without affecting
application functionality.
- Optional customized tool bar (horizontal/vertical) addition
against Oracle default tool bar.
- Takes care of Window titles and Root Window problems.
- Migrate Forms without truncating names which are longer
than eight characters.
- Modifies old pop-ups into stacked views.
- Existing PL/SQL library can be used during migration.
- Facility to transfer messages to alerts.
- Supports menu and PL/SQL library migrations.
Once the migration is completed, you can
apply a number of Post-migration
fixes to eliminate a significant amount of manual effort.
