ORMIT-Java/ADF provides customers that are migrating their
applications with a single interface which is easy to understand
and use. By using ORMIT-Java/ADF to migrate, maintain or re-engineer
their Forms and Reports based applications, organizations
can realize the following benefits:
- Maintain in-house developed functionality along with an easy-to-use migration environment.
- Facilitate deployment of applications that follow standards and are easy to maintain
- Use existing skills of Forms developers to migrate and maintain the Forms applications.
- ORMIT and Imex assistance in skills transition of Forms & PL-SQL Developers to Java
- Meet demanding levels of application performance, reliability and availability.
- Run the application on current technology which maximizes the benefits provided in Oracle's latest development environments.
ORMIT-Java/ADF is a very powerful yet easy-to-use migration tool. ORMIT-Java/ADF helps save migration, enhancement and re-engineering related time and costs up to 90%. Organizations can procure ORMIT and perform migrations themselves with no dependency on external consultants if they so desire.
Some of the other benefits include:
Easy to Use: The easy-to-use tool provides for a very low learning curve. In fact the migration is a simple wizard driven process.
Automated Migration: The migration process
using ORMIT-Forms is fully automated. The level of migration
to Java ranges from 70-90%. Keeping in mind the complexity
of applications that could be developed with Oracle forms,
this level of automation is quite high.
Clean-Compliant Code: The entire migration process using ORMIT-Java/ADF strictly adheres to Java standards, design patterns and best practices. The resultant code is structured in a standard MVC architecture with clean separated Model-View-Controller layers.
Non-Proprietary code: ORMIT-Forms does not introduce any proprietary code. The code can be exported or copied from jDeveloper to any another IDE without any issues.
No-Dependencies: there is no dependency on Imex or ORMIT after migration. There are no hidden libraries or Jars needed by customers to modify their code at a later time long after the migration is done. In fact all code is open source and provided to the customer.
Preserve Business Rules/Logic: ORMIT-Java/ADF
migrates PL/SQL code to Java. This migration allows Developers
to migrate their Forms to Java without changing business rules
or logic to quite an extent. This allows existing Forms developers
to continue supporting the application in Java easily.
Preserve Original Oracle Command Structures: All original command structures, variable names, routine names and comments are preserved in the migrated Java code thus making it easier for Forms developers to continue using the business critical applications just as it was originally created.
Documentation: A migration report is generated
upon migration. This serves as a physical representation of
the Forms long after the migration. This XML model of the
form is parsed and indented for easier reading by the customer
as a quick reference to their existing Form.
Language Independent Migration: ORMIT-Java/ADF allows for multi-language migrations. ORMIT takes advantage of being a plug-in to jDeveloper and extends all language migration as supported by Oracle jDeveloper itself.
