The ORMIT Suite of migration tools are The Tools
of Choice for Forms Migrations for users looking
to migrate their forms & reports applications from any previous
version of Oracle Forms (v2.x/3.0/4.5/5.0/6x) to 9i/10gR2
as well as for those looking to migrate their Forms based
applications to Java-J2EE/ADF.
ORMIT-Java has automation levels of 70-90%, depending upon
the complexity, resulting in significant time and associated
project cost savings.
Organizations can procure ORMIT and do their migrations themselves without dependency on external consultants if they so desire.
The ORMIT-Java/ADF tool is a feature rich product that assists users in all the 3 phases of migration:
- Pre-migration analysis & preparation;
- Migration; and
- Post-migration
Some of the features of ORMIT-Java/ADF that provide the users with a clear advantage for their migrations from Forms to Java include:
Pre-migration analysis: ORMIT migration
tools come with smart utilities that identify potential issues
with the forms code that could cause issues with the migration
process. This PL/SQL code can then be modified prior to migration
in order to achieve a higher degree of migration automation.
Technology Options: ORMIT-Java/ADF allows users to choose their technology for the application. There is a choice of JSF or ADF for the front-end and JDBC or EJB 3.0 for the back-end. Soon ORMIT will also support the BC4J backend as an option.
jDeveloper Plug-in: ORMIT-Java/ADF works as a plug-in to jDeveloper 10g. Using features and advantages of jDeveloper, ORMIT extends the power of the IDE to its users.
ORMIT-Mapper Utility: For post-migration enhancements to the PL/SQL code, ORMIT provides the user with a mapping utility which allows the user to see the PL/SQL code along-side the related migrated Java code. This Java code can be edited and saved in place by the developer.
